Rhoda Magdalene Mealey Holloway

RHODA MAGDALENE HOLLOWAY (MEALEY) Born October 5, 1935 at home in Lewis County, WV to William Ray and Choral Vada Mealey; died of uterine ovarian cancer on July 28, 2011 in Livonia, MI at the age of 75. She married Harold Forinash February 5, 1955 and moved to Detroit, MI. Harold preceded her in death in 1964. Rhoda had five children and continued to live in the Detroit Metropolitan area. She then married Leonard Bourdage who also preceded her in death. They had one child. Rhoda married Leo Holloway in 1974. This marriage brought six step children into Rhoda’s life. Rhoda and Leo lived in Detroit, MI until the children were grown. Rhoda would spend the remaining years living in Buckhannon, WV, Clovis, CA and Flint, MI spending time with family and friends until Leo‘s passing in 2010. Rhoda was a strong and loving woman. Rhoda kept her faith in God through all the hard times in her life. The last 30 years she endured a massive stroke, open heart surgery, and cancer. Through it all she remained positive and strong. Rhoda loved her family dearly and will truly be missed. Rhoda was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; three sisters; and one stepdaughter. Rhoda is survived by three brothers: Denver Mealey of Amherst, OH , Junior Mealey of Crawford, WV and Charles Mealey of Buckhannon, WV ; four sisters: Susie Woodcock of St Anne, MO, JoAnn Whetsell of Culpepper, VA, Carol Lee of French Creek, WV and Marie Woodyard of Buckhannon, WV; six children: Jim & Flo Forinash of Northville, MI, Polly & Jay Roberson of Waldron, AR, Stuart Forinash of Flint, MI, Carol Barlet of Ludington, MI, Judy & Steve Panyek of New Boston, MI and Leonard & Mary Bourdage of Canton, MI; five stepchildren: Martha Valley of Michigan, Katherine Bowen of Michigan, Peggy & John Byrd of Idaho, Pat Walker of North Carolina, and Rick Holloway of North Carolina; numerous grandchildren; and great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Marywood Nursing Center and Angela Hospice for the excellent care given Rhoda. Viewing will be held on Sunday, July 31st at Harry J Wills Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile Rd., Livonia, MI Private Viewing 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Public Viewing 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 3rd 11:00 am at the Wimer Cemetery, Rock Cave, WV
