Arthur “Clay” Hanline, 80, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at his home, in French Creek, WV, under Hospice Care. Born April 8, 1931, in Selbyville, WV to David and Vereas E. Nethken Hanline, Arthur married Katherine L. Carpenter July 5, 1951, and was preceded in death by 5 brothers, his mother, father and step-father, Franklin Woodson. Arthur is survived by his wife, Katherine Hanline, Father-in-Law, Olen Carpenter of Alton, WV; 2 brothers, Ralph Hanline and wife Vaughn of St. Louis, MO, and Lewis Hanline and wife Terry of Alexander, WV; 3 sisters, Ina Ateshkadi and husband Ali, and Virginia Pandiliff and husband George of Chicago, IL, and Wanna Marsh and husband Frank of Buckhannon, WV; 12 children, Doy Hanline of Buckhannon, WV, Roy Hanline and wife Kim of Alexander, WV, Jack Hanline and wife Brenda of Evergreen, WV, Leon Hanline of Mt. Zion, WV, Henry Hanline of French Creek, WV, Barbara Bostain and husband Gary of Richfield, NC, Denzil Hanline and wife Diane of Buckhannon, WV, Paul Hanline of Adrian, WV, Mark Hanline of French Creek, WV, Bonnie Gibson and husband of Union, SC, Bertha Phipps and husband Michael of French Creek, WV, and Maxine Hanline of Colorado Springs, CO; 28 grandchildren, Kathy Howes and husband Mark, Sue Hanline, Jessica Jacobs Chidester, Janna Jacobs, Brenda Kaubisch, Cheryl Lewis and husband Greg, Michelle Tenney, Joe Chidester, Donna Farnsworth and husband Danny, Joni McCartney and husband Joe, Jeff Hanline, Richard Mealey, Stephanie Warner and husband Joe, Leanne Richard and husband Billy, Nikita Hanline, Dusty Tanner, Joshua Hanline and wife Amanda, Curtis, Matthew, Brittany and Tyler Hanline, Jessica Phillips and husband David, Erin Tenney and husband Jeff, Nathan, Adam and Nicole Gibson, Tracey Blake and husband Chris and Justin Phipps and wife Kimberly; and 32 great-grandchildren Lisa, Allison and Ethan Howes, Erica and Jessica Norman, Brooklynn and Gracie Chidester, Breanna and Brian Kaubisch, Britney Simmons, Chloe Lewis, Gina and Sara Tenney, MaKenna Chidester, Catalina and Levi Farnsworth, Destinee and Brock McCartney, Roxanne, Cora lee and Kenzie Mealey, Sierra, Dakota and Durango Warner, Hailey and Kelsey Richard, Joshua Jr. and Alexandria Hanline, Aiden Phillips, Bentley and Riley Tenney and Kaylee Phipps. Family and friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 5, 2011, from 3 until 7 PM. The body will lie in state on Sunday, November 6, 2011, at the Center Chapel United Methodist Church in Carter, WV, from 1:00-2:00 PM, the funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Center Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice in Buckhannon, WV.
