Jimmy "Hotrod" Detamore

March 3, 1949 - July 30, 2016

Jimmy “Hotrod” Detamore, age 67, of 7 French Long Rd., French Creek, WV, died at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown on Saturday, July 30, 2016. He was born on March 3, 1949, in Upshur County, a son of the late Lawrence “Punk” and Wilda Sandy Detamore. He is survived by the mother of his children Mary Kaye Bennett of French Creek, one son Jason Detamore and fiancée, Lindsay Messenger of the Alton Rd., one daughter Katie and husband Ray Unrue of French Creek; three granddaughters: Destiny Unrue, Chloe Brown and Kinleigh Grace Detamore; three grandsons: Nathan Unrue, Jacob Detamore and Kaleb Messenger; two brothers: Donald Detamore of Alton and Bub and wife Gail Detamore of Buckhannon; three sisters: Virginia Detamore of Alton, Vicky and husband Roger Reed of Tennerton and Jan and husband Scott Cutright of the Alton Rd.; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dogs: Jenny, Snickers and Brody. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Dave and Ronald Detamore. Jimmy was retired from Alcon with 29 years of service as a truck driver. He was a member of the NRA. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, driving his Kubota tractor and riding his four-wheeler. He especially loved camping and having cookouts with his family. At the request of the deceased the body will be cremated. There will be no services, the family will have a covered dish cookout at Jimmy’s residence at French Creek on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 4:00 PM for friends to join them in remembering Jimmy. For questions concerning the cookout, please call Jason Detamore at 304-924-9297. Cards and expressions of sympathy may be sent directly to the family in care of Jason Deatmore, 5832 Alton Rd., French Creek, WV 26218. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lewis-Upshur Animal Control Facility at 318 Mud Lick Rd., Buckhannon, WV 26201.
