Charles C. Vorderbert

Charles C. Vorderberg, age 90, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, December 13, 2007 at the Valentine Assisted Living Home in Beverly. He was born July 3, 1917 at Davenport, Iowa, a son of the late William and Mildred Ida Cruys Vorderberg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence May Arnold, who died January 26, 2004. He is survived by one son, Charles “Chuck” and wife Karen Vorderberg of Buckhannon and four grandchildren; Jeffrey Vorderberg of St. Paul, MN, Dana Vorderberg of Bridgewater, VA, Jason Vorderberg and WestonVorderberg both of Buckhannon. Mr. Vorderberg was a veteran of WW II, having served in the US Navy. He wrote a humor column for various newspapers since the 1940’s, including the Record Delta. He had his Doctor of Education Degree and had taught at a Junior High School in Illinois for fourteen years and had also taught in three colleges and a university. He attended the First Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Kiwanis Club in Cartersville, GA. At the request of the deceased the body was cremated. Private memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
