Greg Alan Murphy, age 40, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012,
at 12:11 AM, at his home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice. Greg was born on August 30, 1971, in Fairmont, WV,
a son of the late Donald "Muss" Murphy and Evelyn Smith Murphy, who survives. In addition to his mother, he
is survived by one brother: Mark Murphy of Alton; one sister: Donna Murphy of Buckhannon; and very special niece
and nephew: Allysa Murphy and Chase Long, both of Buckhannon. Also surviving are three aunts: Margie and
husband Phillip Riggs, Helen Crumrine of Buckhannon, and Lottie and husband Lou Seech of Independence, Ohio; and one uncle:
Harold and wife Joan Smith of Parma, Ohio. Several cousins and many special friends also survive.
Greg was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School and received
a degree from Full Sail Centre for the Arts in Winter Park, Florida. He had been employed as Master Control Supervisor
at WBOY-TV in Clarksburg since 1995.
Greg leaves
many friends whom he loved and by whom he was loved in return. He gave love freely and openly. He was a very caring,
compassionate person who was always willing to help anyone who needed him. His sense of humor and quick wit will be
missed by many.
The family will receive friends on
Friday, January 6, 2012, from 3:30-7:00 PM, at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held on
Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 1:00 PM, at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Interment will
follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park.
